Reverse Copic Butterfly

My last butterfly card for a while, I promise. When I was working in my art journal yesterday I noticed that the Copic markers were bleeding through the back of the paper and thought it looked pretty cool on the reverse side and decided that the next page wasn't really ruined after all. This is the Tim Holtz butterfly stamped and colored on an art journal page and then flipped over, popped up on dimensionals, added florist center decoration for antennae.

Zendoodle Butterfly

I've been playing around with doodling and zentangle patterns lately and wanted to add some of this to my card today. For this I used a Tim Holtz butterfly stamp (Stampin' Up has some beautiful ones too if you want to use one of those). After stamping the images I drew three circles around the image and added x's to the bottom row and o's that were dotted to the top row (for the x's and o's challenge today at Splitcoast).
Embossed Always Artichoke over a Soft Suede card base, burlap ribbon, silver embossed stars with matching die cut to embellish.

Just Keep Swimming!

A fun and easy clean and simple card for the challenge at Splitcoast today. It's always good to have some encouragement cards on hand in case you know someone that just needs a little lift.
The stamp set is Hero Arts color layering Goldfish stamped with the ColorBox rainbow pigment inks on SU's Whisper White card stock. Edges were inked with Cool Caribbean.
Thanks, Dory, for the good advice!

Hand Painted Koi

This card was made for today's SCS Inspiration Challenge, to use a book page as your idea base. I found a really old, yellowed at the edges book in (I think) Japanese to use. Hand painted some Koi using Mijello Gold Mission watercolor paints. Card base is SU's retired Confetti Cream. Wish they would bring this back, I really loved this neutral.

Blue Skies

Oh, the airplanes... We should have guessed buying a home a few miles away from Boeing. When we were buying the house we never heard a one, now I can just about go outside and wave to the pilot as he roars by. Couple of times I thought I might have to hit the deck they sounded so low! Anyway, enough of my rant, these smaller planes don't seem to bother us at all when they go by so I thought I'd honor them with a card today :)
Supplies used are Stampin' Up! for the color and sketch challenges this week.
Stampin' Up!: Pool Party and Always Artichoke card stocks, Clouds embossing folder, Sky Is The Limit stamp set, Cherry Cobbler ink and black marker for plane, vellum circle for propeller with a silver mini brad, popped this up with adhesive dot. The felt ribbon "road" is SU's retired Alpine Ribbon Originals.

Watercolor Tree

Still practicing with my new watercolors. I did a wash for the sky and when it was dry I stenciled a basic tree form and then filled in some branch detail with the sepia Pitt marker. Dabbed some artichoke ink onto tree limbs and then did another wash in two shades of green and a bit of ocher. Sentiment is SU God's Beauty, watercolor paper and Cherry Cobbler card stock.

Blue Butterfly

For today's Inspiration Challenge over at Splitcoast they featured a lot of color blocked dresses to choose from. I chose the blue and black one and used the Stampin' Up! All Dressed Up framelit die with black glimmer paper on a Whisper White card base that was embossed with a Tim Holtz folder. The butterfly stamp and sentiment are from retired SU set God's Beauty- one of my all time favorites of theirs. Added a little rhinestone to the belt line for a little extra pizzazz!

Midsummer Night's Dream

This beautiful August monthly Hero Arts kit hit my doorstep today so I had to set my chores aside to make something with it. I love how they ship this product, wrapped so pretty with tissue paper and ribbon. It felt like my birthday or something special! Everything you see here was included: the card base paper, A Midsummer Night's Dream stamp set with matching die cuts, the Star Dust Stickles for the glittery wings, the rhinestones, even the background which was the cardboard piece that the dies were attached to. Had to use it too! The oval cut frame was made with Stampin' Up! card stock in Old Olive which I dabbed with a sponge and Always Artichoke ink. I stamped the sentiment in HA Forest Green and then carefully went over it with a black super fine point marker since the green alone was just a little schmeary, the cardboard had a bit of a glossy quality to it. Love all of the stamps in this set and the sentiments are lovely too! Purely magical.

Just Because

It's always good to have a "just because" card ready to go for when someone needs a spot of cheering. This combines the Mojo Monday sketch for this week with the SCS color challenge of Daffodil Delight, Mellow Moss, and Old Olive. I used a Whisper White base, an old strip of designer paper in olive, the SU butterfly embossing folder, alcohol ink markers, metal sentiment tag, and Tim Holtz butterfly (this stamp came with the primary distress ink watercolor crayons).

Z fold Birthday Blossoms

This Z fold card was made using a Sizzix die which is a 6 piece set containing the Z-fold, 2 label style frames (shown),  and 3 different banner tags. I used Stampin' Up! supplies for everything else except the TimHoltz embossing frame. Birthday Blossoms stamp set was colored in markers, closed card with some baker's twine.

Watercolored Beach Dunes

Sketched some dunes, sea, and sky for a challenge on Splitcoast, then used my new Mijello Mission watercolor paints. I am just beginning sketching and watercolor, took a beginner's class at the local Rec Center and stocked up on some books from the library to practice from. The sentiment is from Hero Arts, stamped in caramel ink. Card size is 4 1/4 x 6" watercolor paper.

Sunny Smiles

This card uses a combination of Stampin' Up! and Hero Arts. The layering tropical stamp set also has a matching die cut which makes things nice and easy. Stamped the pineapple in Butter Bar, SU Pumpkin Pie, Hero Arts Green Apple, SU Old Olive, and Forest Green. Card stocks used were Watermelon, Peach Parfait, and Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky for sentiment banner that was stamped in Early Espresso. The embossing for the panels was a Tim Holtz folder. The layout is for Mojo Monday's sketch challenge.

Christmas Package

This is a mix of various supplies that I had on hand, Stampin' Up! items are Crumb Cake and Always Artichoke card stocks, retired Chocolate Chip satin ribbon with rhinestone snowflake embellishment, Versamark and Espresso embossing powder. Designer paper is Night Before Christmas from Graphic 45, green trim is Webster's Pages, sentiment unknown. It feels so good to be stamping again and it's an added bonus to get a jumpstart on holiday cards.
